A zero‑equity accelerator and pilot‑funding ecosystem helping OceanWell move faster from validation to deployment.
Imagine H2O is a global nonprofit focused exclusively on accelerating and funding water innovation. OceanWell was selected into the 2024 Imagine H2O Accelerator Cohort and supported through an 8‑month program designed to strengthen commercialization, unlock customer access, and increase market visibility. Imagine H2O’s selection process brought together a committee of 75 technical experts, utility leaders, corporate executives, and investors. Committee members evaluated each startup’s business model, technology, team, impact potential, market focus and other commercial viability indicators.
We are thrilled to showcase the 10 water startups of the Accelerator cohort as they present their cutting-edge solutions and demonstrate their progress.
Supported by Oceankind, four winners were selected from a pool of 220 highly competitive applications to each receive up to $100,000 in pilot funding to test and apply their solutions in coastal communities.
Imagine H2O backs early-stage water entrepreneurs with a zero‑equity model and connects them to mentors, tech adopters, and investors to drive real-world adoption. Its platform combines startup acceleration with catalytic pilot support so promising technologies can earn proof points faster and de‑risk deployment.
OceanWell’s modular subsea water farm technology uses hydrostatic ocean pressure at depths exceeding 400m to naturally power reverse osmosis—producing fresh water with improved energy efficiency, no onshore plants, and a benign brine outfall. The Accelerator supported OceanWell’s path to market through structured startup development, ecosystem access, and visibility across the sector.
In 2025, OceanWell was selected as a Coastal Innovation Challenge winner and awarded up to $100,000 in pilot funding to apply subsea desalination in a coastal‑community context. The initial deployment is planned in Las Virgenes, California—aligning directly with OceanWell’s near‑term validation and scaling roadmap.
